Up for Review: LG 60PS11 60-inch Plasma HDTV – This HD Plasma set is part of LG’s 2009 PS series designed to provide consumers a quality plasma screen at an affordable price. The 60-inch plasma set supports full 1080p HD signals as well standard definition television and everything in between. We were impressed with the 60PS11’s ability to display images and video in great quality, regardless of the definition settings. A major factor of this Plasma’s image quality is its 600 Hz smooth motion picture processing and super bright panel technology, a feature that comes standard on all PS series flat screen televisions.

LG 60PS11
The LG 60PS11 has a similar feature set to the LG 60PS60 but does not have the single-layer panel that makes the display panel appear like a single pane of glass. The PS11 also does not have the impressive THX Display certification. Outside of these two features, we could not see much difference between the 60PS11 and the slightly more feature-rich 60PS60.
This larger LG Plasma HDTV provides consumers with three HDMI inputs slots and a single USB port. LG has provided enough HD inputs to handle a Blu-Ray player, video game console, cable boxes, and any other quality video and audio components. As far as the on board audio system, LG has equiped the PS11 with its “Invisible Speaker” system. It does a sufficient job of providing balanced sounds, but is somewhat undersized for a television of this size. We recommend the use of a separate surround sound system with this television.
With a solid two year warranty, a 100,000 hour expected lifetime, coupled with first rate image and decent sound quality, consumers looking at the 60PS11 flat screen from LG for its price, can’t go wrong. Retailing at $2,200, we seen it online for about $1,950.

Our latest Plasma Review, the LG 60PS80 – LG has designed this 1080p plasma screen television for consumers who want the latest and greatest in HD technology. This Plasma TV set is part of LG’s 2009 PS80 series. This 60-inch plasma set supports full 1080p HD signals as well standard definition television and everything in between. With THX certification standard for calibration, the 60PS80 has the ability to display images and video in superior quality, regardless of the definition settings. Excellent color production can also be attributed to the incorporated THX technology. LG also utilized its 600 Hz smooth motion picture processing and super bright panel technology to ensure picture quality is flawless. Our reviewers agreed that picture quality is top notch in the LG 60PS80 and leaves little to be desired.

LG 60PS80
The LG 60PS80 is the first HDTV to offer Ethernet capable input connection to Netflix Streaming Video. Instead of needing to be connected to a computer to download movies, the flat screen set connects directly to the Internet and downloads movies from Netflix’s database. This model also offers LG’s Netcast Entertainment solution which enables access to Yahoo!, YouTube and other Internet content. There is a special USB port for access to digital music, photos and camcorders. LG’s proprietary SimpLink connectivity is included for compatible devices. THX media director is a new feature as well for this year’s LG plasma TV. We expect LG to introduce a number of these great features into next year’s higher end LCD and plasma screen televisions.
This giant plasma HDTV also has plenty of inputs for a number of components – 1 USB port, 4 HDMI inputs and 4 video component slots. All our reviewers gave the LG 60PS80 superior marks for its elegant exterior design. It is fronted by a single pane of glass, behind which appear the screen and the black border around it. Below the screen is a simple angled-back horizontal strip, accented only by the chrome arc of the power switch on the left side. The sides are edged in metallic silver that matches the pedestal on the swivel stand, which is shaped in its own arc mirroring the power switch. The plasma sets produced by LG this year are very well crafted and add to the decor of any room.
If the latest in HDTV technology is important to you, this plasma screen television is a great choice. Retailing at $3,200.00, it is currently listed at just under $2,700.00 at Amazon.com and other online retailers. For the number of features this television offers it is an amazing deal. This television recommends itself.

Up for Review: LG 50PQ20 – Last week we reviewed LG’s 50PQ30 and claimed it was one of the best deals for the money. Cleverreviews.com spoke too soon. The LG 50PQ20 retails for $850 (some $200 less than it’s big brother) and from everything we can tell these two HDTVs are virtually identical. This 50-inch plasma set also supports 720p HD signals as well standard definition television. We were very impressed with the 50PQ20’s ability as a plasma TV to display inky rich blacks, the purest whites and every vibrant color in between. The only difference between this LG television set and the PQ30 is a few minor cosmetic items. Cleverreviews.com is uncertain why LG created two sets with identical mechanical features but different model numbers expect that it hopes to appeal to consumers in the $800 and $1000 price point. Regardless of LG’s reasoning, consumers stand to save substantial money by selecting the LG 50PQ20.

LG 50PQ20
Like the 50PQ30, we’ve read reports about the 50PQ20 having a minor issue with light reflecting on the solid piece of glass that covers the screen. During our test of the PQ30 we noticed this occasionally, but as long as direct light was not aimed toward the light we didn’t notice a problem.
It’s hard to go wrong at this price with LG’s 50PQ20. Like other LG Plasma’s in this year’s line up it is extremely stylish and retailing at or around $800, it’s the least expensive plasma we can find on the market today. Given its natural color, solid build quality, a full set of HD features, and fantastic image quality, the plasma set speaks for itself. Purchase with confidence.

Up for Review: LG 50PS60 – This HD Plasma set is part of LG’s 2009 PS60 series and regardless of the size of plasma screen we tested, we were not disappointed. The 50-inch plasma set supports full 1080p HD signals as well standard definition television and everything in between. We were impressed with the 50PS60’s ability to display images and video in great quality, regardless of the definition settings. A major factor of this Plasma’s image quality is its 600 Hz smooth motion picture processing and super bright panel technology, a feature that comes standard on all PS60 series flat screen televisions.

LG 50PS60
The PS60 series of LG are THX certified plasma HDTV’s and the picture and sound quality were top notch as we tested the LG 50PS60 in its higher definition modes. THX won’t release the details of their certification (they claim it’s similar to giving up the recipe to the secret sauce). However, they assured Cleverreviews.com reviewers that a number of rigorous visual and audio benchmarks were satisfied by LG to gain their certification. Whatever the secret recipe is, it’s working! LG’s 600Hz Smooth Motion technology, beautiful 1080p resolution and 30,000:1 contrast ratio, make the LG 50PS60 an exceptional HD set that will provide excellent picture quality.
This larger size plasma HDTV also has plenty of HD inputs ports – 1 USB port and 4 HDMI slots, which is sufficent to handle a Blu-Ray player, video game console, cable boxes, and any other quality component. If you have read any of our other LG Plasma reviews, you know that we gave their 2009 plasma sets top marks for exterior design. The 50PS60 is fronted by a single pane of glass, behind which appear the screen and a very crisp black border. Below the screen is a simple angled-back horizontal strip, accented by a chrome arc of the power switch on the left side. The sides are edged in metallic silver that matches the pedestal on the swivel stand, which is shaped in its own arc mirroring the power switch. This is a beautiful HD set no matter how you look at it!
Cleverreviews.com believes this is a quality set worth the investment. With a solid two year warranty, a 100,000 hour expected lifetime, coupled with first rate image and sound quality, consumers looking at a PS60 series flat screen from LG can’t go wrong.
