Up for Review: LG 22LU55 22-inch LCD HDTV. This edgy LCD television is unlike any other currently offered by LG in 2009. Gone is the familiar sleek and singular piano black frame, replaced by a modern, unique, and trendy white and transparent frame (owners can pick between a white/orange or white/black frame). LG has created a television designed to appeal to younger consumers. This eye catching smaller LCD produces quality images in crisp 1080p resolution. With a 22 inch viewable screen, it is a great size for smaller spaces like second bedrooms, kitchens or dorm rooms. With a 160 degree viewing angle and a 20 degree swivel base, this television can be comfortably viewed from just about any angle in the room.

Sophisticated wireless content access and advanced calibration options are fully integrated in the LG 22LU55. Both video and audio settings can be easily calibrated by consumers thanks to the easy to use picture wizard. The on board Super In Plane Switching (S-IPS) panel structure is designed to provide faster response time and better color and contrast, providing the 22 inch LCD with a great picture. Coupled with a 20,000:1 contrast ratio and a quick refresh rate of 5ms, the 22 inch LU55 creates rich colors, solid darks, and brilliant whites.

The LU55 series also include 3 easy to use AV Modes preset to optimize picture and sound settings based on Cinema, Sports or Game content. The modes can be easily set with a push of the button on the remote control. Cinema Mode is pre-calibrated to the standard D65 standard white for a true film-like experience. Sport Mode enhances primary colors and Game Mode enhances the video with greater black levels. Our reviewers liked this extra feature and agreed that these AV modes easily calibrate this LG LCD for any viewing application.

The LG 22LU55 was also built with the environment and the consumer’s pocketbook in mind. The LCD handily exceed Energy Star 3.0 compliance standards and creates substantial savings when its turned on or when it’s in standby mode. Backlight control options and video mute help reduce power usage and makes this television not only inexpensive to own but also inexpensive to operate. If you are looking for a great smaller television, this is LU55 is a great option. It normally retails for about $550, but we have seen it online for around $450. This television is equipped with great features at a great price, you can purchase this small flat panel with confidence.
