Our Latest Review, the LG 42LH40 42-inch LCD HDTV – LG’s 42-inch LCD HD television is targeted to please demanding consumers and LG has not missed the mark. The 42LH40 provides consumers with full high definition 1080p and includes TruMotion 120Hz technology to reduce motion blur with fast-moving content, as well as judder in film sources. The 120Hz technology utilizes motion interpolation to create smoother movement in fast action video sequences. LG has also incorporated Real Cinema technology that reduces film judder in a more natural way, adding a 5:5 pulldown perspective to 24p film sources. The back panel of the 42LH40 provides a RS-232 port for integration into an advanced control system, an advanced feature set not usually found on mid-level LG LCD televisions. To round out the LH40′s visual stabilization, LG has provided a S-IPS (Super In Plane Switching) panel structure leads to better viewing as it reduces motion blur significantly. A review shows that the action sequences in films or sports events can be viewed without the image being the least bit slurred. Our reviewers were very impressed with the excellent picture quality associated with this flat panel 42 inch television.

LG 42LH40
Like all televisions in the LH40 series introduced in 2009, the LG 42LH40 is built to exceed Energy Star’s 3.0 standards. The use of different features like reduced back lighting, video mute and Intelligent Sensor drastically reduce energy consumption. This LCD television utilizes the optimum amount of power whether it’s in theater mode or powered down to standby mode. Viewers also don’t have to dim the brightness or contrast manually. The Intelligent Sensor detects the amount of light in the environment and adjusts the picture accordingly. This is a very inexpensive television to operate.
The LG 42LH40 comes equipped with a single USB port that allows viewers to connect the LCD to other devices and gaming consoles. LG also provides four (4) HDMI ports to allow connectivity to high definition components such as Blu-Ray Players, PS3 game systems, and HD satellite systems. We were impressed with the sound and video quality of the LH40 series television when it was connected a Blu-Ray and PS3 system via HDMI. Our reviewers sole complaint with this television are the lack of rich black levels To get richer black levels consumers should look to a higher end LCD or plasma screen television.
Viewers can customize their viewing options with the LG 42LH40. Our reviewers agree that LG provides easy calibration options for video and audio together with enhanced access to content through an easy to use set up manager and audio/visual setting tools. The screen size is excellent for most applications. You can set it up in any room and get a great viewing experience. LG has incorporated a 20 degree swivel in the base of the LCD so the screen can truly be seen from any angle in the room.
With its strong suite of features and amazing sound and video quality, we strongly recommend this television. It retails at $1,300 but can be found online for less than $990. If you are looking for a great mid-sized LCD with solid picture and sound quality you do not need to look any further than the LG 42LH40.
