A Trusted Name in HDTV sets: Toshiba’s 15LV505 with a 15.6-inch LCD screen and built in DVD player. For consumers looking for a well known and trusted brand in a 16 inch television, this Toshiba is a great choice. At this screen size, Toshiba’s competition tends to be “store brands” or no-name brands,and our reviewers agree that sticking to a Toshiba in this class of televisions is worth the money. This set’s native resolution is 720p and does a great job handling 1080i and 480p resolutions as well. Images are crisp and sharp. An item worth mentioning is that this set native display is in 16:9 wide screen whereas most over the air programming is still broadcast in 4:3. This will result in any 4:3 broadcast appearing somewhat smaller on this already smaller 15.6″ screen. However, if you are looking to purchase a TV smaller than 19 inches, this should be the one.

This 15.6-inch LCD is equipped with a built-in ATSC / QAM / NTSC Tuners for DTV and analog TV viewing. The Toshiba 15LV505 provides users with the standard connection components, with the exception of an HDMI port. Our reviewers were very impressed with the television’s display qualities whether watching programming or a DVD via the onboard player. We tested the following DVD formats without any issues: DVD/DVD-R/DVD-RW/CD/CD-R/CD-RW/VCD.

The Toshiba 15LV505 is Energy Star 3.0 compliant and won’t cost much to operate. Sound quality on this small set is surprisingly clear and solid. Initial set up is simple and easy, in spite of the numerous features this LCD offers. Our only negative comment about this television is that its stand is not adjustable, but at this size that should not matter much to most viewers. If you are looking for a well built, top of the line 16 inch LCD, this Toshiba is a great option. It normally retails for about $300, but we have seen it at a few online retailers for about $180. Purchase with confidence!
